Wavering Hands are Rolf Laureijs, Laurin Huber & Elischa Heller.
Wavering Hands didn’t give us much info when they sent us over the master of their debut Album In Wet Sand. No flowery phrases about their work, just 8 tracks and a press photo. It’s not that Wavering Hands have nothing to say, they simply don’t feel the need to explain or describe their work. In a world full of glossy music videos and pushy promo campaigns we find their blunt aesthetics and subversive attitude towards music-making refreshing.
Needless to say that the record is completely self produced. But don’t be fooled by the band’s DIY approach. Singer Rolf Laureijs is a skilled producer and the krautrock inspired drums and basslines are tight as hell. But Wavering Hands’ musical vision goes way beyond just reinterpreting wave or kraut structures. Anyone who’s ever witnessed the trio’s erratic live performances starts to understand that there’s more going on here. Or as Laureijis sings repeatedly on Circular Breathing: «Absolute Body Control».
