Originally founded by Rolf Laureijs, the Swiss project Frederik has been joined by drummer Laurin Huber and second guitarist Christoph Barmettler. After the EP »Tears (you know)« drew on the tropes of bedroom-produced synth-pop, affirming and subverting them at the same time, the eight tracks of its debut LP »Portraits« see the trio apply a similar approach to rock music. Just like its title suggests, the album is not to be understood as a single snapshot but a series of vivid and multi-layered pictures, all painted with gentle brushes. »Portraits« ist out now on Visage, Copenhagen.
The vinyl LP will be released in a few weeks in collaboration with Visage on Oh, Sister Records.
